Description: This course will introduce the usage of gears to your workflow in Fusion 360. Gears are a very basic mechanical element that you can use in all your designs. With the advancement in 3D printing it's very simple to have a gear train made in your home. Learning how to use gears in your designs will open up new pathways your designs can take. The gear add-in in Fusion 360 is very flexible and can be used to produce a myriad of gear train orientation. The course starts with the basics of gears and their history. Technical terms of gears are then introduced and explained with fun engaging animations. After that we jump into Fusion 360 to show you how to use the spur gear addin and model gears in your designs. This is followed by an assignment where you will test your understanding of the concepts. By this point you'll be able to make any arrangements of simple gear trains. The last section will teach you all about compound gear trains and how to design them, assemble and animate them in Fusion 360. In section 1 I will introduce to you the concept of gears and their technical terms and how to perform general calculations. This is followed by a walk through selecting gears from an online catalogue to match the power requirements of your designs. Section 2 will introduce the concept of simple gear trains to you. First we will jump into Fusion 360 to explain how to use the spur gear addin to model gears and how to assemble them. Then I will show you how to animate the simple gear trains. After that I will show you how to do the calculations to design a simple gear train for a specific usage. After this you will be asked to perform the same calculations on an assignment to confirm your understanding. Section 3 will introduce the compound gear trains to you and show you the difference between simple and compound gear trains. The compound gear trains calculations in explained afterwards and followed by a guide to designing compound gear trains in Fusion 360.
