Description: I spent 3 yrs acting alone as an advisor to all First Nations in Canada with respect to s. 81 and 85.1 law making authority. First Nation Councils have the authority to address all the issues in their community in an administrative sense but can also enact laws. This is an intro into the administrative and law making powers found in the Indian Act. This workshop provides information about the legislative reality First Nations people live under. I will likely post more information over time that would be helpful to someone who wants to learn more about this topic. The conflict of laws on reserve and section 88 permitting for laws of general application by province is not included here at this time.
